Apr 15th, 2008 by Rajuthan
Affiliate marketing is a internet based marketing technique which requires the following to succeed an affiliate, a vendor and a customer.
- Affiliate: is someone who markets a vendors product and gets paid a sales commission fee.
- Vendor: The vendor is basically the seller
- Customer: The person who purchases an item through the affiliate
The image above describes how the marketing technique is done. An affiliate also a website owner shows an advertisement for a product. Visitors of that website will click on the affiliates banner and go to vendors website. Once on the site the visitor might buy the product which will lead to the affiliate receiving a sales commission. An example would be if Joe owns a webhosting review blog and he joins the Hostgator Affiliate program and puts up banners and text links on his blog. The next day his visitor clicks on the Hostgator banner and signs up. Once he signs up Joe will receive a Nice commision of $100 (Hostgator’s payout per any sale is $100).
